“Criminal court ‘D’ Released Mulbah Kesselly Not Major Koijee” Correction Bureau Clarifies

Monrovia- The Bureau of Correction has denied claims made by controversial talk show host Henry Costa that the Bureau reportedly released one Mulbah Kesselly through the order Monrovia Major Jefferson Koijee.

In a release issued by the Assistant minister of Correction and Rehabilitation at the ministry of Justice, Eddie Trawallay, says the Bureau attention has been drawn to a recent media information, in which it was alleged by Henry Costa that the prison authority unlawfully released an inmate he identified as Mulbah Kesselly. According to Mr. Costa’s Facebook posting and radio talk show, the inmate was released on direct instructions from the Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson T. Koigee.

” We wish to inform the General Public that such assertion from Mr. Costa is categorically false and misleading because, while it is true that one of the many functions of our prison system is to commit and release criminal offenders of society, said function can only be executed legally, not through an individual’s mandate as insinuated by Mr. Costa. So, please note that, in accordance with legal documents within the prison system, one Mr. Kesselly Mulbah was released on March 11, 2019 by Criminal Court “D” for Montserrado County”, Assistant minister Trawally stated.

He mentioned in the that the Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation only adheres to what it is legally constituted to do under the laws of the Republic of Liberia.
