As Liberian students prepare to sit WASSCE, the Head of WEAC Says Gov’t has paid over USD$2.5 million for 39,848 Students

The head of WAEC has said the Government of Liberia has Paid over US$2.5 Million Students WASSCE Fees.

Making The disclosure at the ministry of information regular press briefing Thursday, the head of WAEC Dale G. Gbotoe said Liberian Government has made the payment of over US$2.5 Million United States Dollars to Liberia’s West African Examination Council for 39,848 Students WASSCE fees for this 2019 exam.

According to WEAC, last year the total of 34,000 Students sat the WASSCE with mass failure. This year marks Liberia second time taking the WASSCE Exams.


This year’s WASSCE will begin from the 24th of April to the 20th of May. 651 Schools registered for this year’s exams, of the 651 Schools 522 are private while 129 are Public Schools.

The examination, which is expected to be conducted throughout the country for the 12th and 9th graders, will last for five weeks, according to the WAEC other timetable will be released soon released in Monrovia.

As per the guideline released, the WASSCE examination will commence on Wednesday, April 24, beginning with practical and physical Geography. The timetable also revealed that the WASSCE examination will conclude on Monday, May 20, with Chemistry.

The head of WEAC said instead of the regular nine (9 ) Subjects, Students who have no interest in the Sciences will be doing 7 Subjects, while others will do 8 subjects.

However, the Council said it will in keeping with its policy, institute the requisite measures in dealing with those, who will attempt to breach its examination’s protocols.
