Monrovia, Liberia- A special feature: St. Philip’s Ecunemical high school, one of the oldest schools in Gardnersville is at point of closure.

The school which was founded in 1968 by deceased Rev. Jonah Nagbe Togba, has educated many professionals over the years in the country. But the present condition of the school seems to be it will no longer be able to educate the young population of the Somalia drive- Gardnersville areas.

The school which is the least populated school in the Gardnersville area for the pass three academic years due to its present status because of the lack of money too run the school. A school that has over three thousands students in the early 2000s, is now in a deplorable state both academically and structurally. The physical structure of the school is not attractive for students in the Somali drive area.

According to a insider who name is withheld of the school that spoke to us, said the school is

not being run by competent and sincere people. Our insider said that the school is being run by people who are corrupt and only after personal aggrandizement.

When asked how the school can meet modern days standard, this is what our insider said, “the school need serious overhauling; we need to give that school to a bank as a collateral to be able to revamp it.

The first attempt failed because the people were told students would pay their fees to the bank”.

As we try to investigate why is it that Gardnersville oldest school is at a point of closure, we have also gathered that there is a low funding to run the school because of the lack of students which the school depends on for fees to run the school.

A passionate graduate of the school told us in a cellphone conversation that is time the chief administrator of the school, Madam Theresa Tetee Togba should try to help the school and also said some prominent graduates like Emmanuel O. Dean, former Liberia football association, Nyenka DG of LEITI,
Jerome Nyenka; a PHD holder in Agriculture and a lecturer at UL,
Daniel Holman Colonel AFL Assistant COS for Operations currently serving the UN in Mali,
Lavina K Gould Director of Internal Audit Tubman University ,
Augustine Doe Chief Inspector of Police ERU and
Mohammed Sidibay President Muslim community in the UK among many others should to come to the aid of the school or else there will be no institution called St. Philip’s Ecumenical High school in an academic year to come.
