Monrovia, Liberia- Criminal Court “C” has told released Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, Charles Sirleaf to report twice a month to the sheriff of the court.
Mr. Sirleaf and others were detained for economic sabontage But he was ordered released by Boimah Kontoe medical grounds. Sirleaf was released on Friday, March 8, 2019 following an application filed by his lawyers, which they supported with a medical certificate.
His lawyers informed Criminal Court “C” that Silreaf’s health has worsened since his arrest and subsequent incarceration by the Liberian National Police after an inquest into the Liberian banknote saga.

We reported early this week, that Mr. Sirleaf fainted three different times in his cell but the assistant minister for Correction denied the report.
The action by the court is in keeping with the laws of Liberia, which allows for the “removal” of a person from custody before sentencing commences to “some other place of confinement where his health may be better preserved”. Having been granted a compassionate release, the defendant must surrender his passport and be placed under house arrest. He will be allowed visitation rights only from his doctors, lawyers and immediate family members. He will also be required to report to the sheriff of the court twice a month.
Meanwhile in a statement release by the government yesterday evening, the government assures the general public of its determination to be judicious in the ongoing investigation, while ensuring that the rights of every citizen are preserved.
